Wedding review

We were lucky enough to welcome Jen and Andy to Owlpen, complete with their families and friends, to enjoy their wedding at Owlpen this weekend.  We were so pleased by what they said, that we decided to share it here:

Summer is here!

Although the summer does not officially start until the solstice, it certainly feels as though the season is upon us here in our little valley at Owlpen.  As our wedding guests enjoyed the gardens yesterday the mercury rose to 26 degrees, hotter than Spain or the south of France.  Thankfully there is plenty of shade under the yew trees, some of which were planted over 400 years ago.

Filming at Owlpen

We had a visit from the BBC today.  They are filming an episode of "Escape to the Country" in the Cotswolds, and asked to come to Owlpen to film a history section for this episode. Sir Nicholas Mander has been busy talking to Nicki Chapman about manor houses, Cotswold gardens adn the Arts and Crafts movement, not to mention the odd ghost siting...  More details to follow!

Painting of Owlpen

We were delighted to receive notice of a recent painting of Owlpen by Mr Ronald Whiting recently.  He began this work many years ago, and only recently rediscovered it and decided to finish it off.  Thank you for your beautiful rendition of Owlpen!

We are open again!

It has been a busy winter here at Owlpen: whereas we would usually be fixing roofs and repairing roads, we have had a film crew of 130 people (sometimes) on site since January 5th.  Glad to say that we are now open again, and excited to welcome our guests for this week's Cheltenham Races event and beyond.  Please come and see us soon!

Closed for filming

Owlpen Manor, the grounds and the Cyder House restaurant are currently closed as we host a film crew on the estate.  We hope to be open again by February 22nd.

We apologise for the inconvenience.  Walkers can still use the public footpaths on the estate, which are all open as usual.

Thank you.

Theatre at Owlpen

The Comedy of Errors at Owlpen.

We are proud to announce a new date for the diary this summer.

On July 19th and 20th the Gloucestershire youth Players will be setting up shop in the manor gardens, to perform The Comedy of Errors, one of Shakespeare's best-loved comedies.
