We are pleased to say that we intend to re-open our holiday cottage accommodation from July 6th, in line with the most recent government announcements. We are taking the utmost care and attention as we prepare to re-open, and to reflect the uncertain times we live in, we have amended our methods and practices to add extra security and safety to anyone who is considering a booking with us. It is important that we are able to provide a safe environment for you to enjoy your stay. Likewise, we have to ensure the safety of our team. Owlpen Manor is a member of the Professional Association of Self-Caterers (PASC), The Cotswolds Destination Management Organisation and Historic Houses. In consultation with these and other associations, we have worked hard to develop a rigorous cleaning protocol for our holiday cottages.
As we move towards re-opening, the safety of both our guests and staff remains the most important priority. We have conducted full risk assessments of our properties, which are available on request. We will continue to review our risk assessments to take into account any changes in guidelines or legislation.
We are following the guidance issued by central government and the Health and Safety Executive, in order to plan our processes with extreme care: these processes relate in particular to cleaning, maintenance and interaction with guests during your stay at Owlpen.
Information for guests
In order to allow ourselves more time to prepare for your visit, we have delayed check-in to 4pm on the say of your arrival. If you would like to arrive earlier, you would be welcome to park in the car park and take the time to explore the gardens and grounds of the estate while we prepare your cottage for you.
Keys and welcome packs
Keys can be collected following our normal procedures. However, we shall not be handing out folders containing keys, as usual. Instead, we shall email you your ‘welcome pack’ so that you have it at your disposal. Keys will be sanitized before you collect them.
Inside the cottages
It is our priority to make your stay as comfortable as possible, without the restrictions caused by Covid-19 interrupting your enjoyment of the holiday cottage. However, we have decided to make a few changes to our accommodation in the interests of safety.
All books will be removed from the shelves, as will maps, pamphlets and additional estate information. As much of it as possible will be available in our welcome pack, which we shall send to you via email in advance of your arrival.
A bottle of anti-virucidal hand gel will be left in the holiday cottage kitchen for you, as well as antibacterial cleaning spray. The products used will be in line with BS EN 14476.
We always like to meet our guests when you arrive, and be on hand to help with any questions that you might have during your stay. However, at this time we are operating a strict 2-metre social distancing policy. As such we shall not be able to welcome you into the office: instead we shall come outside and greet you during office hours. If you need anything, we ask that you call us or send an email, instead of coming to the office. If we need to enter your cottage during your stay, we shall wear masks and gloves, and ask that you vacate the property during our visit.
We ask that you check out of your cottage at 10am in order to give our housekeeping team time to clean. The cleaners will not enter the cottage until you have departed. We ask that you strip your beds and place the bed linen into the bags provided, at the end of your stay. We would not ordinarily ask you to do this, but we live in very different times! We also ask that you dispose of your own rubbish and recycling. Where possible, we ask that household waste is double-bagged and placed outside.
The housekeeping team have all completed training in Covid-19 Holiday Let Cleaning Protocols. Due to this, our cleaners will be adopting an even higher level of cleaning than our already high standards, following our strict cleaning checklist and protocol. They have all been advised to wear masks, gloves and aprons while they clean. These will be changed when they enter a different property.
In line with guidance issued by the Health and Safety Executive, all surfaces will be cleaned with standard cleaning products, before being sanitized with cleaning products which meet BS EN 14675 and 14476 safety standards.
Under current government guidelines, anyone who tests positive for the virus or is displaying symptoms should not move out of the accommodation. If you develop Covid-19 symptoms during your stay you must inform us immediately. We undertake to work with you to determine the appropriate action according to government advice at the time.
Given the current situation we anticipate being unable to host any private events - including weddings - until August. We continue to monitor the situation, and shall maintain a constant dialogue with all of our wedding parties as the government guidance is updated.
For those who wish to postpone their weddings until a later, we are offering all of our brides and grooms the chance to re-schedule their weddings at any point up to March 31st 2021. There is no additional charge for this, although we do ask that people maintain venue hire payments on the basis of their original contract, and wedding date. If you are looking to postpone until after April 1st 2021, sadly this would constitute a new booking entirely.
We do not expect to hold any house tours until 2021. For those groups who have already booked, we shall do our best to re-schedule their tours to next year at no additional charge. We ask that tour group leaders contact the estate office directly to discuss their individual requirements.
Gardens and Estate
The gardens shall be closed until further notice. The footpaths on the estate are currently open for daily exercise, although we have temporarily diverted the footpath which goes through the Grist Mill garden. For those people who regularly enjoy walks in the valley, we hope that this diversion is seen as a welcome change. Although we apologise for any inconvenience that the change may cause, we appreciate your understanding during this difficult time.
