Rewind back to February 2024, and award-winning garden photographer Richard Bloom was hatching a plan. A garden in winter. Yew trees and box. Perfect for a winter feature on the English country garden.
What could possibly go wrong? Well, the weather!
Richard’s plan was simple. Come and stay, hunker down in a holiday cottage and wait for a good had frost. He had to wait for the third attempt, in between windows of other work, to get the timing right. And time it right he did. Up before dawn before three days in a row to wait for that perfect moment when the liight was just getting going, and the goldn hour was alive.
It feels like a long time ago that he shot these pics, but lickily they will be immortalised in the magazine for all etretnity. And on our website, of course.
Well done Richard. Because good things come to those who wait…
