Owlpen Manor is a secluded Cotswold valley a mile east of Uley, off the B4066.  Although it is well connected to the rest of southern England by road and rail, and within easy walking distance of the nearest village, the estate can be hard to find, especially at night.

We recommend that you follow the directions below when visiting us for the first time, and always approach the estate through ULEY!

Our postcode is GL115BZ.  Owlpen is marked on all maps, and there are sign-posts at both ends of the country lane which leads to the estate.

HOW TO FIND US

We recommend that you approach the estate through the village of Uley, on the B4066 between Dursley and Stroud. At Uley you turn off to Owlpen by the Old Crown pub on the village green.

FROM LONDON/ M4:

Exit the M4 at junction 18 (Bath), and take the A46 north towards Stroud. After 11 miles, turn left following signs to “Kingscote, Nympsfield, Dursley”. This road connects with the A4135 which crosses the A46. Continue past the Hunter’s Hall pub at Kingscote and take the second fork on the right signposted to ULEY. Continue straight on after the crossroads with the B4058 into ULEY.

PLEASE IGNORE A SIGN SAYING ‘OWLPEN Unsuitable for heavy goods vehicles’ WITH A RIGHT-TURN, AS THIS WILL TAKE YOU DOWN A VERY STEEP AND NARROW LANE WITH FEW PASSING PLACES.

Instead, carry on down Lampern Hill for one mile.  When you reach the bottom of the hill, turn right into Uley. At the top of the village there is a church on your left and a pub called The Old Crown on the right, at the village green. By the pub you will see OWLPEN and OWLPEN MANOR signposted to the right, one mile.  It is more like half a mile from that point.

FROM THE NORTH/ M5:

Exit the M5 at junction 13 (Stroud) and continue east via EASTINGTON and FROCESTER. Turn right at the top of Frocester Hill onto the B4066 and continue along and down into Uley, turning left at the village green by the Old Crown pub.

FROM THE SOUTH/ M5:

Exit the M5 at junction 14 (Dursley) and take the A38, B4066 and A4135 north via DURSLEY, turning left out of DURSLEY on the B4066 to ULEY.

Turn right in ULEY at the village green by the Old Crown pub where you will see a sign to OWLPEN and OWLPEN MANOR (under one mile down the lane).

YOU ARE ALMOST THERE!

Once you drive on to the estate, follow the main drive until you reach the car park.  You will see a sign saying "Welcome to Owlpen" with an arrow pointing to the right, down the tarmac drive lined with mature lime trees.  To reach the estate office, head down the drive.

The office is situated in the Cyder Barn: as you walk/ drive down the main tarmac drive, the office door is just beyond the red wrought-iron gate, on the right.

First you will pass the new pole barn with its wooden bi-fold doors.  Adjoining that is the medieval Cyder Barn with a Cotswold stone roof: white wooden doors which give access to that space.  If you continue past the doors, and through a red wrought-iron gate, you’ll find the estate office immediately on the right-hand side.

NB if the drive is closed with a traffic cone, please use the service entrance to reach the estate office: this is a medieval drive just to the right of the main tarmac drive as you look down it.  It is marked with a sign.

The manor house is 100 metres beyond the barn.
