Information for Guests
Welcome to Owlpen Manor – we’re delighted you’ll be joining us to celebrate! On this page we have collected lots of the questions that you might be asking about your visit to Owlpen, to make your arrival and stay here as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.
Key Details
Venue: Owlpen Manor, Near Uley, Gloucestershire GL11 5BZ
Estate office hours (for enquiries): 9:00–16:00 on weekdays. On an event day the office is open from 9am.
Address, Maps & Satnavs
Use postcode GL11 5BZ for satnavs — Owlpen is marked on maps and there are signposts on the country lane leading to the estate. Check the couple’s directions for the exact drop-off point if using What3Words.
Please approach the Owlpen estate via the village of Uley. Your satnav may try to take you a different route which is not recommended as the country lane is steep with few passing places.
The What 3 Words reference for the Owlpen Estate Office is watch.timed.rods

When to Arrive
Please aim to arrive at least 30 minutes before the ceremony start time to allow time for parking, gathering, and orientation. We advise that you refer to the invitation or itinerary provided by the couple for exact timings.
Parking & Drop-Off
There is ample on-site parking for guests; please park in the designated car park unless you hold a Blue Badge, in which case we recommend contacting the venue by email or phone to book a space. Guests requiring closer drop-off (mobility needs, elderly) can be dropped off directly outside the venue and the car moved to the main car park.
Accessibility
If you or a guest has access or mobility requirements, please contact the wedding organiser or Owlpen in advance so the team can assist with parking, drop-off, and seating arrangements. Owlpen’s wedding FAQ and planning pages provide further accessibility details.
There is a full accessibility statement on the Owlpen Manor website below.
Where the Ceremony & Reception Take Place
Owlpen can accommodate a range of weddings — indoor civil ceremonies in the barn venue, the manor house, or garden ceremonies and receptions. Check the couple’s invitation for the exact ceremony location on the estate.
What to Bring/ Wear
Dress code is on the invitation; layers are wise (country weather can change). Comfortable shoes are recommended for walking on lawns, paths, and around historic garden areas. For outdoor elements, bring a light coat or wrap for cooler evenings.
We strongly advise against wearing stiletto heels, or similar, at the venue: it is much more practical and comfortable to wear wedges or flats!
If the weather is very sunny, or there is a chance of rain, we recommend that you bring umbrellas or parasols.
Children & Animals
Owlpen is dog-friendly for weddings although usually bringing dogs is limited to the marital party. Estate and cottages are pet-friendly in general. Confirm with the couple if dogs are invited. Usually there are family-friendly options and spaces for children, but it is best to ask just to make sure.
Accommodation & Staying Over
Owlpen manages a selection of boutique holiday cottage accommodation and glamping across the estate, sleeping around 50 guests on-site. If you need a room for the wedding or event, they are allocated by the marital party or event organiser so please contact them directly as soon as possible.
If a room, house or tent has been allocated to you, the martial party or event organiser will send you a document containing check-in information which we have provided to them. If they have not done this, do please contact us directly for help.
If you would like to bring your van or camper van, you will need to register your vehicle with the Estate office in advance and we can recommend a suitable place to stay. Sadly we are not able to provide electrical hook-up for such vehicles on the estate.
Photography & Drones
Owlpen’s gardens and house are photographer-friendly. If you plan to use a drone, please check with the couple and the estate in advance as you will need to provide the appropriate insurance and accreditation to protect people’s safety, privacy and wildlife.
Gifts & Cards
The couple will usually provide gift/card instructions on the invitation or their wedding website. If there isn’t one, leave cards in the designated present on arrival or hand them to a member of the wedding team.
Our Team: On-the-Day Contact
If you need help on the day (directions, parking, accessibility), contact the couple’s wedding coordinator or the estate phone number supplied on the invitation. Owlpen’s general contact details are on their website.
Health & Safety / Emergency
For urgent assistance on-site, speak to a member of staff immediately. For medical emergencies call 999 and alert venue staff so they can guide emergency services to the estate.
Event Finish Time and Departure
Usually the end time on weekdays is 11pm and on weekends it is midnight. Guests should follow the couple’s instructions about evening transport or local taxis; if staying on site, you can walk back to your cottage.
Please note: it is essential that you book taxis in advance if you wish to be collected at night-time, as it can be very difficult to find a taxi immediately.
Alcohol Policy – Important for All Guests
Owlpen Manor is a licensed premises, and guests are not permitted to bring their own alcohol onto the estate (including ceremony spaces, grounds, and reception areas) without prior written permission from the venue.
Please respect this policy to ensure the couple’s bar arrangements and the venue’s licensing obligations are upheld. Any alcohol brought on-site without permission may be retained by staff until the end of the event.
If you are staying in a holiday cottage you are welcome to bring whatever you want to the cottage and its grounds, but sadly you are not able to bring these provisions to the licensed premises.
Quick FAQ (Guests)

Q: Can I smoke on site?
A: Smoking is only permitted outside. You must use ashtrays provided when disposing of cigarettes.

Q: Can I bring my own alcohol?
A: Sadly it is strictly forbidden to bring your own drinks onto the licensed premises.

Q: Can I wear heels at the venue?
A: Heels cause damage to wooden floors and can sink in soft ground — we strongly advise block heels or flats in all areas.

Q: What if I get lost on the way?
A: Use postcode GL11 5BZ, call the contact number on your invite, or use the estate contact email/phone.

Q: Do you have EV charging points on the estate?
A: We do not currently have EV charging points, but we are working on it! Sadly it is not permitted to plug EVs into 13-amp sockets, for insurance reasons.

Q: Do you have information about local taxi numbers?
A: Yes! Please ask at the estate office via phone or email.
